Tata Ace Electric

Tata is producing hybrid version of Indica and electric variant of Tata Ace. Tata has showcased an Ace electric at the Bologna motor show.

Tata Ace Electro/electric: Tata introduced indian first 4-wheeler mini truck way back in 2005. It redefined the whole industry and continues to be successful till now. Tata Motors already exports this to Nepal and Srilanka.Tata Motors unveiled the electric variant of ace called as “Ace elektro”.

Tata Ace Elektro / electric: In India Ace is powered by 16bhp diesel motor which complies Bharat II and bharat III emission norms. But since european norms are more tough, Tata Motors has worked in collaboration with the technical support of Archimedes Energy Inc. and Ecolori SpA to develop a electric heart for the ace.

Unlike popular hybrid which makes use of oil engines as well as electric motor, Ace is truly electric. Ace Elektro is powered by asynchronous motor it produces 30 KW of peak power. It is said that this Ace electric can reach the maximum speed of 120 km / h.

Unlike other electric manufacturers, Tata makes use of superior Li-thio-polymers which means lighter battery and hence increased mileage. Ace also makes use of advanced regenerative braking which means you can recover energy while you slowing down and braking.

Tata Motors have already proposed it will use a electric ace to foray into the tougher United States market. In Indian context, Tata motors may use this heart in the same/different tune for its proposed electric Indica.

Tata’s Indica electric to run for 200kms at single charge

Tata is developing an electric variant of its Indica hatchback. Tata Motors Chairman Ratan Tata has said that the Indica electric would have an approximate range of 200 kilometers.

This is incredible considering the fact India’s only electric Reva return 70km in a single charge. However the increased mileage will come with the use of expensive lithium ion battery.

Reva uses lead acid battery for its electric car. It is important to recall that Tata Motors has already showcase electric version of its Ace truck last year in auto show and finalised an agreement with Daimler to sell the electric Ace in USA.

The electric Indica is being developed in Norway. The electric indica will be launched in Norway this year and will go to other markets, including India thereafter. The electric indica will be launched by end of this financial year

Unlike other countries, Norway, Sweden and France have surplus power and the respective Government is encouraging customers to shift to battery-operated vehicles. Already Norway is the home for two electric car makers – Th!nk and Kewet.

General Motors’ Volt plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) and Toyota’s upcoming plug-in version of the Prius are getting a lot of attention for their low-emissions, partial electric-only travel modes.

But Tata Motors’ EV currently in development in Norway has almost three times the 40mi (64km) electric range of the Volt, and while it’s still undergoing testing, the prototypes, based on the company’s Indian-market-leading Indica hatchback are already built.

Tata plans Nano Electric

Tata Motors is developing an electric version of its ultra low cost car the Nano (1,700 euros or $2,600 or Rs1 lakh car). Tata Motors recently said that it is developing an electric version of Indica. Similar to the Indica electric, the Nano electric would be produced in Norway.

The e-nano or Nano electric would be built in cooperation with the Norwegian electric car specialist firm Miljoebil Grenland. Nano electric would be able to meet the world toughest emission norms and will enable Tata to launch the car in US and in Europe.
